Washington the cat... Walk on the Beach, Aloe, Aloe?

We have our own star, our own LOLCat. I dont know if youve ever seen the website, but my two Littles love flicking through it. So we took our own photo of our quaky cat - Washington.
Shes finding winter brisk this year, in her advancing years (you know what its like :-) )
So here she is, showing me the foundations of our house. She does the silent miaow at me, and talks constantly sometimes, which makes me think she might be my mother-in-law reincarnated...Yes, they need replacing Washington... she is not impressed.
I think shes part Persian, or maybe the wind changed?...

Have been for a jaunt to the beach, it was wet and sandy ... a bit chilly (hats etc), but the sun was fantastic! We saw birds, hills, sun... and noone got their feet wet for a change *grin*

Footprints

The Culprit...
Have been  checking the Aloe veras, planting the small pups into their own pots. Am using a different mix this year, to see if  I can get them to root deeper into the soil. Its a blend of indoor plant mix and orchid mix. So far, so good theyre starting to plump out into bigger plants. Have almost 40 plants now, have started to give some of the larger ones to new homes. Im running out of room!

Cant believe the holidays are nearly over yet again. In a city where people find work, Im very proud to say my Mr almost-16 has just found a part time job. Hes really pleased and cant wait til his first day! Well done You!

Well, Im off to a warmer place,
Hope you sleep well!
Keep Warm

QUICK POST - A PINGU! A PINGU! Muuum, Look!

Emperor Penguin Arrives in Kapiti - Miss 4 thinks this is amazing, and I have to agree... I wonder where he made a wrong turn, and ended up on a New Zealand beach for goodness sake!http://www.stuff.co.nz/environment/5172214/Emperor-penguin-a-long-way-from-home-at-Kapiti
Isnt he beautiful ? We *heart* Penguins in this house...

It started with the Antarctic Centre here in Christchurch - which is an awesome way to introduce kids to Penguins, as they have a live display!
Then, we read about them here... Penguins In the Fridge...by Nicola Moon...
Joe isnt allowed a pet, so he makes some penguins... and puts them in the fridge...
My boys LOVED this book, especially my eldest. He had a pet (stuffed) penguin, that I would often find in the fridge... and this book was a favourite for a long time! It has since fallen to pieces, loved and well read!

Choice Day Bro! ...

Isnt it good when you get something you need for less than youre willing to pay?
... Enter Trademe.
Youve got to love a good auction, when its going your way and oh my! You WIN! And a quick pick up. And a satisfied buyer and seller at the end... plus positive feedback. Well - you get it.

Warmth!
I lucked in today!
I got two oil fin heaters, barely used, seller is going overseas etc. For... cough. Im almost embarrassed to say... $4 a piece...
Theyll be excellent for the childrens rooms this winter instead of the old clunkers weve had. And of course now we have no  open fires and no chimneys. Oooh. Thats going to be interesting!
So Im getting organized... just a little. I dont want to scare myself, - or you, for that matter, if youre a kiwi reader, but... Its not long now til Winter.

Had a *Choice Day* out and about with the Family.
We took off to pick up said heaters, then burled onto the beach at Spencer Park with great gusto.
It was NEAT.

My boy -  he digs those waves like an eager fish and dug for pipi or similar like he had shovels for hands. I love seeing him in his head - you know, absent except for action - there were no words, just him scurrying into the Ocean, that surged furiously. He loved it. Every minute. And he was in his own space. It had been a long week.
With unique and rare unison, Mr EB and I made a  driftwood cottage for the littlest Earth Butterfly who busied herself digging holes and making sandpiles oh, err... castles... sand castles.

Of course I cant show you, because I lack a camera, ... Im rectifying that soon I hope.
But it doesnt detract from our gorgeous day.

The water was cold, but once your feet froze, you were right. You cant feel the cold thru the numbness :) Mr EB got wet up to his... pockets and I to my knees, with jeans rolled up to my thighs...who cares, it was all part of the fun.
And there was a cool breeze, but we werent cold, it was sunny, but not enough to burn us to a crisp... Not like last weekend... So it was Awesome!

Home and lunch, and lots of chatting and busy-ness. Now its Idol Time again, and the kids are glued. Mr EB is home on the farm, and Im catching up on the washing... Eagerly awaiting our Maryland Chicken for dinner...
Tomorrow is Sunday again. I turn around, and there is Sunday, snickering at me again. Sissy... Go on, you love me really...

Well thats me for now. Im going to start on my recipe book tonight. No, really... I am!
And Spencer if youre reading this... Somebunny loves you Baby!!

Love and Blessings.

Memories of a Dear Friend...

Welcome Home
(Dave Dobbyn)
~*~*For Dougie, and his men*~*~

Tonight I am feeling for you
Under the state of a strange land
You have sacrificed much to be here
‘there but for grace…’ as I offer my hand
Welcome home, I bid you welcome, I bid you welcome
Welcome home ... from the bottom of my heart
Out here on the edge
The empire is fading by the day
And the world is so weary in war
Maybe we’ll find that new way

So welcome home, see I made a space for you now
Welcome home from the bottom of My Heart
Welcome home from the bottom of our hearts
Keep it coming now - keep it coming now
You’ll find most of us here with our hearts wide open
Keep it coming now - keep on coming now
Keep it coming now - keep on coming now

There’s a woman with her hands trembling - haere mai
And she sings with a mountain’s memory - haere mai

There’s a cloud the full length of these isles
Just playing chase with the sun
And it’s black and it’s white and it’s wild
All the colours are one

So welcome home, I bid you welcome, I bid you welcome
Welcome home from the bottom of our hearts
Welcome home, see I made a space for you now
Welcome home from the bottom of our hearts
From the bottom of our hearts

See, we took off to the beach earlier in the month. I put my camera away safely...
And of course, something hit something else, and its broken :( I feel really sad about it and will have to wait for insurance to fix it... so this week, no photos... This post is in memory of a very beloved military man, and a beautiful Spiritual man who I miss dearly... Time spent with Dougie was never going to be long enough!
Loving him forever...

War is never the answer to any question!
